Last day to register for TJA's online reporting workshop
Register now for Beyond the “Culture War”: How to Cover Trans Issues Well in an Election Year.
Get past political back-and-forth to find the actual news at the heart of the rhetoric surrounding trans communities. This three-hour interactive workshop will help you understand how to go beyond quick-turn legislation stories and tell high-impact stories relevant to your audiences, whether they're local, regional, or national.
This training is for journalists who:
1️⃣ want to think about ways that legislation and policies focused on trans people have wider, newsworthy impacts on whole communities
2️⃣ want more tools for covering trans communities and the issues affecting them with accuracy, sensitivity, and nuance
3️⃣ want to get ahead of the news cycle during elections season
The trainers are Trans Journalists Association members Minami Funakoshi of Reuters, Vivian McCall of The Stranger, and Kae Petrin of Chalkbeat.
The training will be recorded and available to participants for two weeks after the event, if you cannot attend for the full period.
